I lift my head to the shepherding call of geese as they find their way home. I watch as one goose—just one goose—abandons the formation, breaks free from all the rest, and creates a way of its own.
And I but a feather, part of a wing’s complex movement, inexplicable drive, learn how to fly.
I learn how to fly.
Dedicated to my children: Amanda and Nicholas
